On 1 January 2012 the two Swiss tour operators railtour suisse and Frantour (DER Touristik/Kuoni Reisen Schweiz) launched the new brand “tourmark”.
tourmark operates independently of the two tour operators as a “full-service” marketing & PR agency for tourism in the highquality source market of Switzerland. The goal is to market and communicate worldwide tourist destinations, products and special offers.
Parallel to this, products can be launched and marketed via inhouse tour operators (sales via 1’530 Swiss travel agencies, including 40 private railway agencies).

In 2014, Swiss citizens undertook 19,5 million journeys abroad that involved at least one overnight stay. This means Swiss foreign travel intensity corresponds to an average of 2,9 journeys per inhabitant. On a global comparison this is one of the highest figures recorded anywhere.
In the interim, Switzerland represents a very important source market for numerous European and worldwide destinations in quantitative as well as in qualitative terms.
On account of Switzerland’s economic strength and very high purchasing power, all experts are currently anticipating significant rises in Swiss travel intensity for the coming years.
